The guard inside the tiny cubicle jerked his head up from his paperwork as the door slammed shut. He did a double take, then blurted out, "Hey man, you're Robin Williams! Gimme your autograph!" (If you're a celebrity, this must be your vision of hell.) I saw Robin a few months later in Los Angeles, where he was on location for the movie The Fisher King. He was taking some sun with his blue-tongued lizard on the beach in Malibu during a break in filming. Nearby was a beautiful white cockatoo in a five-foot cage, a recent birthday present.
